Freeport, North
Given By (NPC): Emissary Millia
Archetype: Scout
Description:

Once you obtain level 9, you obtain a quest to advance onto a more specialized scout profession!

1. I need to speak with Emissary Millia in North Freeport.
Once in North Freeport, you must find Emissary Millia, she's in the Tavern.

(Picture of Millia and map.)

Millia: Perhaps you have some information for me, yes? If not, then I don't want to talks to you. Just watching you, I've learned more than I care to know.

I'd like to add to my skills. Maybe you're the one who could show me?

Millia: What do I gain from teaching you, hmm? Petty-handed pilferers are a silver a dozen around this city. Why are you any better than the scum living in the ruins or the sewers.

The difference is that I'm good, and will only get better.

Millia: Let's see if you have the skills to go with that mouth of yours, eh? Being a scout doesn't take much, a couple of eyes, working limbs, that's about it. If you can get ouht of a sticky situation, you'll go even further. For instance, a good rogue alwaysw has an nescape route. Go into the Sunken City and clear an escape path. Kill several Rust Monsters, and then comes back. If you return in one piece, maybe I shows you a few more tricks.

I'll be back after I deal with them.

Scout Training

Emissary Millia has offered to teach me a few tricks about being a scout. Maybe once I've learned these tricks, I might branch off and pursue a different, more specialized type of Scouting.

1.Emissary Millia wants me to go to the Sunken City and kill five Rust Monsters. She claims that a Rogue always keeps open an avenue of escape.
You must go to any of the docks throughout freeport, and ring the mariner's bell that travels outside the city of Freeport, there you will be able to choose to travel to the Sunken City.
i.I need to kill five Rust Monsters.
Once in Sunken City, try to find a partner (You're going to need one.) You're going to see 'a small rust monster' those wont cut it, you need to kill adult Rust Monsters, and they tend to group together (They're real tough! At your level.) You should be able to dispose of them with ease once you have a partner.
2.I need to speak with Emissary Millia.
Return back to the North Freeport tavern to speak with Emissary Millia.

Millia: Perhaps you have some information for me, yes? If not, then I don't want ot talks to you. Just watching you, I've learned more than I care to know.

I've made a path through them. I hope that route will still be there if I have to use it.

Millia: I didn't become one of Lucan's emissaries nby hoping, you fool! Hope in one hand and spit in the other, see which one fills up first, eh? A good rogue knows how to get out of a fight if things doesn't go as plannet. Hmm ... maybe I show you another trick.

I can do anything you come up with.

Millia: Heheheee ... is that so? Well ... let me thinks ... heh ... the next trick I show you is the art of persuasion. Bards get into scraps they have no chance of surviving, yet they do. Winning people over is the key to a bard's suvival. You'll understand what I mean soon enough. Heeheeehee.

What do you mean by that?

Millia: I want you to go to a few of the taverns around the city and charm the patrons with your beautiful voice. Heheheee ... You do have one, don't you? Go visit these two taverns and convince the bartenders that you're the life of the party. I don't care how you embarrass yourself – sing a ballad, dnace a jig – just make them think nyou're an idiot. And if you don't, then no more tricks from me, got it?

I can't believe you're making me do this... GRRR!

3.Emissary Millia has now forced me to act the role of the fool nin front of a couple bartenders here in the city. I can't believe I'm about to do this....
i.I should do some type of buffoonery in front of bartender Grum Zoomly of the Back Alley Brewhouse in West Freeport.

You must first go to West Freeport. Once there, open up your map and find the tavern. The enterance is on the south siding of the building. Find Merchant Grum Zoomly and hail him by pushing 'h.'

Zoomly: I don't want any trouble here in my bar, understand? People really hate it when i get angry.

Lalala!!! I'm a singy-flingy-wingidy-deeeee! Tada!!!!

Zoomly: What in the heck are you doing, you idiot!? Get out of here before I bash your head in!

I can entertain anyone here in under five seconds flat! TADAAAA!!!

Zoomly: Entertain? You're a moron! And soon you'll be a dead moron, I'll make sure of it!

Watch me do a cartwheel!

Zoomly: You fool! You're going to kill yourself! Heck, I'll hire you just to see how long it takes! You'll have to wait till I'm done counting today's take. Stop by after I close, and we'll discuss payment.

Ooodadeee! Maybe some other time.

Well done, you just made a royal ass of yourself, you're journal updates, now to the next task.

iii.I should sing my own special type of love song to bartender, Ranik Calman, of the Seafarer's Roost in East Freeport.

Once in East Freeport, whip out your map and find the Tavern. Find Merchant Ranik Calman and hail him by pushing 'h.'

Calman: Aye. Welcome to the Seafarer's Roost. Been out at sea for a while, or just stopping through? Put some coin in my hand and I'll sell ye drinks until ye sail out again.

I'd like to sing a song for your crowds.

Calman: Take it to the theater, you silly fop! We don't want to hear any stupid lullabies, and I sure as heck am not gonna pay you to do it, either. Now, leave me alone. I'm counting my daily earnings.

Just give me a moment... The looove ooofff my liiiife...

Calman: I told you to shut your trap! Get out of here, or i'll kick you out myself!

She diiieeeddd... oooohhh she diiieeed, ooofff sickness... Ooohhh how my heart aaaaches!

Calman: Hey... what kind of love song is this?

Sheee went awwwaayyy but the loneliness staaaayed!

Calman: That is one heck of a sad song, buddy. Why don't you ... uh ... quit singing already, okay?

The pain! The utter paaain and heart aaaache....

Calman: Hey ... just ... just shut up, already, okay? Wow, you've got it bad. I guess ... I guess you can sing here if you want ... but please try to lighten it up some, okay?

Thanks! Maybe I'll stop by later.

Well done, you're a natural. The journal updated! What next!

4.I need to speak with Emissary Millia.
Return to Millia in the North Freeport Tavern.

Millia: Perhaps you have some information for me, yes? If not, then I don't want to talks to you. Just watching you, I've learned more than I care to know.

I did as you asked. They all fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Millia: I admit it. I enjoyed the thought of you looking like a complete idiot, but I think you know why I had you do this. People ignore you if you're dull; they talk more openly and ignore their purses, yes? So, tell me what happened...

One guy asked me to stop by after he closed... when the guards will be gone.

Millia: And the other bartender

The other bartender wasn't paying attention to his money. Here's a gold coin I swiped right from underneath his nose... I got this for you as proof.

Millia: I'll take you word that you stole this from him. Well, since you pulled off the other tricks, I guess I teach you a few more. Instead of being a freelance rogue or a deceptive bard, you can also ply your trade as a hunter or a predator. After I show you the tricks they use, maybe you decide what kind of scout you wants to be.

Bring it on!

Millia: Predators stay in the shadows; they know that the bset wahy to defeat an enemy is to sneak up on it and slit its throat! You can practice skulking by heading down into the sewer and looking for your competitors – the ones called the Darkblade Scouts. Hunt down some of these creatures and dispose of them before they even see you.

I'll be back when they're dead.

5.I need to kill five Darkblade Scouts
Head down to the Thieves Way, if you don't know how to get there press 'alt+w' to open up the waypoint menu and double click Thieves Way Enterance. I will use Raskalnikov's The Thieves Way map to show you the location of the Darkblade Scouts.

(Picture of area.)

6.I need to speak with Emissary Millia
Return once again to Emissary Millia in North Freeport Tavern.

Millia: Perhaps you have some information for me, yes? If not, then I don't want to talks to you. Just watching you, I've learned more than I care to know.

They never saw me coming...

Millia: The more you practice your skulking skills, the easier it is to hunt our prey. Well, those are my scouting tips for you. Eventually you must focus on some type of skill. An amateur scout won't land a good job, especially a job like mine. I think it's time you choose your specialty.

I'm not sure I'm following you.

Millia: I didn't teach you the tricks of the trade just so you could waste my time! Choose a scouting technique and start practicing! Scouts are a silver a dozen around here. Some people with less class might evfen call them thieves. Is this what you want to be? A common thief? No! No! I think you know what you want to be. Am i right?

Choose which profession you want to pursue. Millia will tell you a little bit about the profession you choose, you then have a second chance to choose a different profession.
